Wednesday night Glen and I went for dinner at Guu Saka Bar with Cam and Vincent. Normally Glen and I don’t do much in the evening during the week, which is a little sad but not that unusual when it’s so cold outside. Who wants to brave that biting arctic wind when you could just stay in your little box? But realising this is bordering on hermit-like behaviour, we went out for a wonderful dinner.
I’d been to this restaurant with Glen before but didn’t think much of the food we’d ordered. This time was completely different. We arrived when the place was only half-full which meant it wasn’t too noisy (last time we could barely hear each other across the table). We were shown to seat that were built into the floor in traditional Japanese style. We ordered cocktails made of vodka and squeeze-your-own lemon juice.
We also ordered the tasting menu which came with nine dishes of varying styles, vegetables and meat. While not everyone ate everything, there was enough for us to get full on (except Glen ordered a carbonara udon at the end which we didn’t really need). My favourite dishes were a spinach dish (lots of flavour); a mix of oysters, mushroom and cheese; a rice dish with mushrooms and cheese; and the chicken kara age was good too. As were the other two drinks we ordered each.
We finished up around 8:30. Cam and Vince caught the subway home while Glen and I went to the game shop, Snakes and Lattes, to peruse their selection. There are a lot of expansion sets and variations of games we’d like to buy. Glen wants to buy the 10th anniversary edition of Ticket to Ride but it’s the version we already have. So why does he want it? Wooden trains instead of plastic ones. He’s given me a list for his birthday (never mind that mine is just under two weeks away).

What do you say, eh?
