Unsurprisingly it took us a while to get up on Sunday morning. I think I eventually roused myself at 10:30. I could have done with a few more hours, but I had to start cooking for our neighbours’ Christmas dinner.
Glen went somewhere, I’m not sure where, or maybe he went somewhere and then came back and napped. Donna went to the gym sometime in the afternoon. I cooked a pork belly with crispy skin, made a dressing, and then prepared Yorkshire pudding mix for making later on.
We all met at Bec and Alastair’s at 3:30pm (they’re the only ones with an apartment big enough to host ten people). In attendance were Peter and Royden, Marcio and Eliano, Julian, us and Donna. Everyone brought something. Pete cooked a massive roast turkey and potatoes; Bec and Alastair made veggies and dessert; Julian made vegetarian lasagna and dessert, and Marcio and Eliano brought beef.
We gathered around, oohing and aahing over the food, having some drinks and waiting for the final few things to cook. I prepared Yorkshire puddings for the first time in my life. Mum always said they were a pain to make and I’ve probably on,y had them a handful of times in my life, however, the ones I made were easy and tasted fantastic. I was so stoked.
We had Christmas crackers to start off with, Glen, Donna and I confusing everyone with our family’s tradition of crossing hands to pull the crackers. I was happy to see that everyone put their paper hats on. We then gorged ourselves on so much food, barely remembering there was dessert still to come. Everything was excellent.
Between dinner and dessert, we played five rounds of Pit, another family favourite of ours. It went down a treat. Donna won a couple of rounds, I won one, as did Julian. Such a thrill to shout, ‘Corner!’ and win. Dinner wrapped up at around 7:30 or 8. A few of us went to the hot tub for a soak but we weren’t there long as the hot water quickly put us in sleep-mode.
Back home we weren’t ready for bed though and stayed up to watch Romancing the Stone. Donna and I remember that movie being a lot more fast-paced. It really drags. We watched until the end though and went to bed at 10:30. Such a great Christmas…and it’s not even Christmas yet.

What do you say, eh?
