Last week re-imagined

The previous post bothers me. It might not have been the most exciting week ever but there were still positives. So, in an act of good mental health, I’m accentuating the positives of last week. (And of course, need to remember that I am in fact living in Canada and doing amazing things.) Here goes:

I had enough paid work to keep me busy for a whole week yet still found time to do other things. I also got good feedback from one of my clients who’s happy with the speed and quality of my work.

I researched interesting travel destinations (as part of said paid work) and as a result was able to talk to Anna, one of the fellows, about Salar der Uyuni (the salt flats of Bolivia) and her experience with altitude sickness.

I was able to go to the gym every day.

Thanks to the time difference, I was able to talk to family and friends back home via Facebook and Skype, as well as emails. I caught up on news, had some laughs, and felt part of life in Perth.

Our windows are being cleaned, and twice I’ve seen Helen the Peregrine. The second time Helen was with her friend, Barry. They roost in the Rogers building.

I bought highlighters, which I used to edit a chapter of a book I’ve written. I also had said chapter edited by a friend who’s given invaluable feedback. Much work to do but it’s progress.

Glen and I went out for all-you-can-eat sushi (again).

Glen and I went for dinner with some of the radiology fellows at a cheap but delicious Chinese dumpling place on Spadina Avenue. We socialised! Also found out about a Thursday night event at the Art Gallery of Ontario, which will give us a preview of many of the Nuit Blanche contemporary art pieces. There’ll also be food. And hey, it’s the chance to see the gallery at night. We also went out for a drink and dessert afterwards and I had this fruity beer that tasted like alcoholic ribena.

Friday night Pauline came over, we made pizzas from scratch, which were delicious, and watched Steel Magnolias. More socialising!

We’ve booked tickets to four upcoming films at the TIFF as part of a gay and lesbian film festival.

Albert arrives tomorrow and I’ve booked us tickets to see the David Bowie exhibition at the AGO. It’s good that this week has been on the quieter side because next week is going to be full-on.

There. I feel better. Now what to do with the rest of today. It’s raining outside and is perfect weather to curl up on the couch and watch movies. If only Glen were here.

EDIT: And as if in response to the different viewpoint, I’ve just seen a friend post this on Facebook. Check it out: How to Get Flat Abs, Have Amazing Sex and Rule the World in 8 Easy Steps
